My life is new again thanks to my determination to
break the cycle and take my life back.
How addiction had taken over my life
Everything revolved around drinking and it was
destroying my life and affecting my family.
Things in my life started to take a nosedive at a very early age beginning with a family break-up and being bullied by kids at school. I've written about my failures as well as my success to document how change is possible with hard work and determination.
Stopping was definitely the hardest thing I've ever done in my life but also the most rewarding. It is possible. I found my way out of it by replacing alcohol with something far greater. I can't wait to share it with you

Note From Rick Cheadle
Hi, my name is Rick Cheadle. I'm going to share my story with you. I honestly never thought my life was all that interesting. However, my friends and family beg to differ. They feel like my experiences might help those who are enduring similar circumstances, and I totally agree.
My story is full of triumph and tragedy: tears and tribulation. The pain of being bullied, followed by anxiety, depression, and addiction. A violent, brutal attack that changed my life forever. Fighting PTSD. The struggle to reach sobriety. The betrayal of the last person on earth you'd expect it from. Immersing myself in Art and Music. And a beautiful angel that appeared at my lowest moment and made everything worthwhile.
Maybe it would help others to know they are not alone in the battle of life. Or maybe something I say will resonate and start the chain of events leading to healing and recovery. This memoir captures some of my childhood and covers a period when my struggles outnumbered my victories. Why am I writing this book? The answer is simple. I've been through some things and found my way to the other side. I didn't do it the traditional way. I had to forge the road while I walked down it. I hope that maybe I can help or inspire someone in a way that will make a difference. If I help just one person, this book will succeed.
I've had it hard, but I know others have been through much worse. Don't feel bad for what I went through. After all these events made me the person, I am today. I'm happy to say I have an amazing family and a thriving career. But in the end, I'm just a regular person who was too stubborn to roll over and play dead. I am a fighter for my own happiness and well-being. I also want to make it clear I am not a doctor. I'm not recommending any kind of treatment for any person. I am also not saying what worked for me will work for you. If I can go through these things and survive, then I know other people can do it too, just in their own way and in their own time. Hopefully, reading what worked for me will help you to start your own journey. I know you need to do what works for you. But you have to start somewhere. Self-Discovery is a great place.
Our journey awaits. Let's go!
